The most exciting event in the takeaway industry calendar is set to expand in 2014, with all new content specifically for the street food sector. We found out more about what you can expect from this year’s Takeaway Innovation Expo.
Since you’re reading Streetzine, you’ll already be aware of the incredible rise in popularity that street food has enjoyed in recent years. And that fact hasn’t escaped the attention of the people behind the only exhibition and conference for the takeaway industry in the UK, Takeaway Innovation Expo.
Event organisers, the Prysm Group, have told us that they are adding a whole section dedicated to street food when the free-to-attend show returns to Olympia London on September 17-18th. Having seen the fantastic success of the exhibition when it launched in November last year, we’re happy to tell you that Streetzine will be partnering with Takeaway Innovation Expo to help bring you a new live show feature for 2014, The StrEAT!
It’s an ‘indoor street’, showcasing the very latest in street food for the diner on the go. The StrEAT will be packed with franchise opportunities for formats that include catering vans, trailers, carts, cycles and pop up stands, so you can find your perfect opportunity. With low overheads and little investment needed to set up in business, you can see why entrepreneurs everywhere are setting up their own street food outlets.
Last year’s Takeaway Innovation Expo saw nearly 6,000 takeaway owners and operators attend over two days. They were greeted by an incredible schedule of keynote speakers, including award-winning and innovative leaders in the takeaway industry such as JUST EAT; Baskin-Robbins; Pizza Hut UK Managing Director, Mark Fox; Andrew Walker, former MD of Pret A Manger; Ajmal-mushtaq (Best Delivery Restaurant / Takeaway in Britain 2012); and TV and radio personality, Dr Lisa Ackerley – The Hygiene Doctor. These industry specific seminars were complemented by relevant advice from some of the biggest brands in business, such as Saatchi & Saatchi X; LinkedIn; Facebook; Doug Richard (former BBC Dragon); and Clive Rich (The £10bn Negotiator.) Alongside the extensive seminar and workshop schedule, the show was a real treat for the senses, with mouth-watering smells and tempting taster sessions throughout the two days.
And Takeaway Innovation Expo shows every sign of being bigger in just about every way when it returns in September. November’s premier was so successful for the 100+ exhibitors, both in brand extension and securing new business, that a massive 79 percent of them will be back this year – many of them with bigger stands to maximise their revenue potential. And the organisers were delighted to tell us that they’ve joined forces with Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS), the industry leader on safe trading practices, to ensure that every one of the traders is as safe as their fare is delicious.
Headline sponsors JUST EAT were so impressed with the exhibition that they have signed up to sponsor it for the next three years. This guaranteed backing enables the organisers to add exciting new features to develop the show further – including The StrEAT.
Takeaway Innovation Expo has been designed to encourage and support forward-thinking takeaway owners and operators to find new ways to run, grow and develop their businesses. Focussing on innovation in the industry throughout the seminars, workshops and exhibitors, the exhibition and conference covers everything from cutting edge kitchen tech to ecommerce and franchising for progressive takeaways. And now street food vendors, operators, owners and suppliers will have access to all this content for the first time, too.
Takeaway Innovation Expo returns to Olympia, London on 17-18 September 2014. If you’d like to find out more about exhibiting, please call the event director, James Williams, on 0117 930 4927 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
