The TM5 is the 5th generation of Thermomix since the original model was introduced in 1961 and comes 10 years after the previous model, the TM31, was released in 2004.

The TM5 retains the multiple functions that have made Thermomix the ultimate cooking appliance in domestic and professional kitchens all over the world. The Thermomix can stir, mix, blend, chop, weigh, grind, knead, whisk, simmer, emulsify, cook and steam – all with one bowl and one blade. Now this kitchen classic has been brought into the digital age. “The time is ripe for another revolution in the kitchen. With the new Thermomix, cooking goes digital,” says Dirk Reznik, CEO Vorwerk Thermomix.

With its touchscreen and one control knob the new Thermomix TM5 can be operated intuitively at your fingertips.  Additionally, every Thermomix now comes with a Recipe Chip, which holds a cookbook of digital recipes. Once attached to the TM5, the recipes on the Recipe Chip are all available on the Thermomix display. Using the touchscreen, Thermomix owners can easily browse through recipes to find ideas and inspiration. On selecting a recipe, the Guided Cooking feature provides step-by-step on-screen instructions. The Thermomix pre-sets time, temperature and speed for each step, letting cooks just add the ingredients and follow the instructions on the display.

Ease-of-use is also demonstrated by the automatic locking and unlocking feature of the Thermomix lid and another new development is the larger, 2.2 litre stainless steel mixing bowl. The powerful motor, with speeds of up to 10,700 rpm, temperature control in 5 degree intervals from 37 to 120°C, and weighing scales with a total capacity of up to 3kg, make Thermomix the most versatile of kitchen appliances.

Phase two of the launch, in 2015, will see the release of the Thermomix Recipe Platform, an online resource where users can browse through recipe collections and build their own treasure of recipes to use on the TM5. The Recipe Platform can also be used as a weekly meal planner and automatically prepares a shopping list. A new Thermomix App in 2015 will also give owners access to their recipes and shopping lists any time, anywhere, on tablets and handheld devices.

The news of the TM5 was announced to the Thermomix community across the globe simultaneously via the web and Social Media and to top performing Thermomix Advisors at events in London, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Mexico and Taiwan at 7pm on Friday 5th September.

PURCHASING & PRICE

In the UK, Thermomix is available exclusively from Vorwerk UK Ltd, trading as Thermomix, with head office in Sunningdale, Berkshire. A local Thermomix Advisor is assigned to visit the customer, at their convenience, and usually at their home. Demonstrations last a couple of hours and hosts are encouraged to invite guests to join in and see and taste a selection of dishes prepared in the Thermomix. The Thermomix Advisor remains a personal contact for the customer to offer advice and support after purchase. The Thermomix community is a thriving and growing group with more than 20,000 Thermomix now sold in the UK and more than 5 million worldwide.
