Curry lovers in Wales can nominate their favourite ethnic restaurants and food companies at the Asian Food Awards 2014 (AFA). The awards are open to all South Asian and Oriental restaurants, suppliers and retailers based or operating in Wales.
Winners will be announced at a glittering award dinner being held in the The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, South Wales in Spring 2014 attended by leading dignitaries, politicians, Asian ambassadors, high commissioners and celebratory guests.
The Awards are a joint initiative from the Federation of Bangladeshi Caterers (FoBC) and the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), The Chinese Takwaway Association (CTA) and the Malaysian Restaurant Association (MRA) in association with the Wales Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.
“These awards recognise the huge successes made by business owners across the whole of the curry industry and ensure that the key players are lauded for their achievements,” said Yawar Khan, Chairman of the AFA, who added, “Every restaurateur and business owner has a unique background and story – awards reflect a lifetime of work, honouring the dedication and commitment of people who ensure continued vibrancy and growth in the sector.”
A London award ceremony has been hosted by the Asian Curry Awards (ACA) for the last four years in the prestigious Great Hall, Grosvenor House, London, but such is the demand for quality Asian cuisine and the high innovative standard being set, it was decided that the Principality deserves its own unique event. The move follows an Asian Food Awards launch dinner in held in the Thistle Cardiff City Centre Parc Hotel attended by over 100 restaurant owners and other dignitaries on 21st October 2013.
Nominations are welcome for businesses and individuals drawn from all countries in south and East Asia including Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Burmese, Korean, Singaporean, Bangladesh and India.
